Bendy trained on the Stage Management and Technical Theatre Course at LAMDA before working as a Stage Manager and then a freelance Production Manager. Following this Bendy worked for Clean Break, which uses theatre for personal and political change, supporting women whose lives are affected by the criminal justice system. Since 2006 Bendy has worked as Apprenticeships Manager for the Royal Opera House establishing the successful ROH Apprenticeships Scheme.  Bendy instituted a focus on technical and theatre craft apprenticeships and established a commitment to diversifying the ROH workforce and the sector as a whole. In 2019 Bendy was awarded an Olivier Award for her commitment to diversifying the offstage talent pipeline.  She is a co-chair of Skillscene.
